Recently, Shanghai Pharma sent a study group, led by Cho Man (SPH Executive Director and President), to Tacheng and Alar of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region for business investigation. On October 12, the group held talks with the leadership of Urumqi and Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, participants including Shu Chang (SPH Vice President), Chen Junli (Chairman and GM of Shanghai TCM, SPH), and Zheng Jiyu (GM of Herbapex, SPH).

Peng Jiarui (Commander, Deputy Secretary of CPC of the Corps, Vice-Chairman of the Autonomous Region) and other relevant leaders held friendly talks with Cho Man’s group. Peng fully affirmed SPH’s position in the industry and its support to Xinjiang’s pharmaceutical industry. He introduced the advantages of the autonomous region in terms of Chinese traditional medicinal herbs. Peng stressed that the corps would give full support to potential cooperation opportunities, and extended the expectation that SPH increase its investment in Xinjiang, so that both parties, while responding to the country's One Belt and One Road Initiative, implementing the Xinjiang-aiding policies issued by the central government, and centering on the powerful union and complementary advantages between Xinjiang and SPH, would truly achieve the win-win situation.

Cho Man thanked for the affirmation and support from the autonomous region. He said SPH had been in recent years undertaking promotion over the full industrial chain in the Chinese medicine sector, performing deep cultivation in producing good medicine, and building bases of geo-authentic crude drugs one after another, thereby vigorously accelerating the development of both the industry standards and the corporate benefit. Xinjiang boasts vast land and favorable climatic environment that provide advantages for cultivation of Chinese traditional medicine. Therefore, the foundation for cooperation on herbs planting base between both sides is wide and huge. He stressed that SPH, as a "Shanghai Advanced Unit of Counterpart Support and Cooperation", will continue to exploit its advantages in pharmaceutical industry and commerce to provide support for the upgrade of the pharmaceutical industry of Xinjiang.
